The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration About Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
