Automobiles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

An important official commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
